Yoga Flow
60-90 mins
Yoga Flow classes at Ten Toes bring traditional Hatha Yoga postures together in a flowing sequence (called a Vinyasa Flow) that enhances energy flow in the body, bringing improved health, clearer mind and awareness of the spirit.
Yoga Flow classes range from gentle to dynamic, but all build strength, fitness and flexibility, along with emotional and spiritual benefits.
If you've done Yoga before, this is the class that will most likely be familiar to you.
top ↑Dynamic Yoga Flow
75 mins
Take a Yoga Flow class and add sweat! This class follows the same format as a Yoga Flow - warm-ups, Vinyasa Flow, balancing, floor stretches and inversions, followed by deep relaxation.
The main difference is that we fit more into the time by picking up the pace of the Flow, leaving more time to explore deeper variations in our balancing and floor postures. There's even the opportunity to grow into stronger inversion poses.
Since a basic understanding of Yoga Asana alignment is assumed, this isn't a class for beginners. And some fitness is helpful.
top ↑Hot Yoga Flow
60 mins
Take a Dynamic Yoga Flow class and add even MORE sweat! We heat the room (to around 28-30 degrees) to enable our muscles to warm up thoroughly. The heat also promotes perspiration to flush toxins from the body. The class is dynamic - we start standing and only get on the floor toward the end of the class. Like all good Yoga classes, we end with a period of deep relaxation.
You should drink plenty of water before and after class to stay well hydrated. Drinking during class is not a good idea. You should wear lighter clothes (eg. sports shorts rather than track pants) to class. This will be more comfortable, but also allows your body to perspire freely. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN MAT AND A LARGE TOWEL WITH YOU AT A HOT YOGA CLASS.
Hot Yoga isn't for everyone. If you're pregnant, you're not allowed. (But a Yoga Flow class is great for you.) Since a basic understanding of Yoga Asana alignment is assumed, this isn't a class for beginners. And some fitness is helpful.
top ↑Yoga Stretch
60 mins
Yoga Stretch is based on the principles of Yin Yoga, which involves long, deep stretching cultivating a peaceful and meditative mind.
You will build flexibility in areas that most of us are tight, especially the hips, pelvis, and lower spine, so if you’d like to be more flexible in these areas, get yourself along to Yoga Stretch.
The teacher will show you how to use yoga props such as belts, blocks, blankets and bolsters in order to get into each pose without using much muscular strength. That way, you’ll be able to hold poses for a greater length of time and get a deep release.
This class is a perfect complement to the dynamic (yang) styles of yoga that emphasise internal heat, and aim to lengthen (relax) and contract (strengthen) our muscles...like Yoga Flow and Hot Yoga classes, for example! Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. (This is another class that really isn't appropriate if you are pregnant.)
top ↑Pregnancy Yoga
75 mins
These classes are specially created to help you have a beautiful pregnancy experience. Pregnancy is a great time to tune more deeply into your body and its needs and Yoga will support this quest. Yoga can help you manage the challenges of pregnancy as well as make the most of the joys this experience has to offer.
We encourage you not to start any new form of exercise, including Yoga, during the first trimester of your pregnancy. If you have been practising Yoga prior to becoming pregnant, however, this will be a gentle way to continue in a way that is safe and nurturing for you. It is always a good idea to get your doctor's 'okay' when starting a new form of exercise during pregnancy (and we will assume that you have done this).
If you're pregnant, you're definitely not allowed to come along to Hot Yoga classes. If you are an established yoga student and would like to continue in Yoga Flow classes, arrange a one-on-one session with a Ten Toes teacher so that you can learn how to modify your practice to accommodate your pregnancy.

top ↑Yoga for Core Strength
60 mins
Our Core is made up of the deep muscles in our torso that stablise the body. Poor core strength is often to blame for bad posture, back pain and physical fatigue. So almost all of us could benefit from giving our core stability some attention!
While this is definitely still a Yoga class, the emphasis is on how to not only strengthen our core muscles, but also how to ensure we are using them appropriately in our daily lives. This is a great class for increasing your body wisdom.
Expect to have a stronger mid-section, flatter belly and supported spine.
If you are managing a back injury or have had abdominal surgery, this class might be just what the doctor ordered, but check with him or her before you start. If you're pregnant, this class definitely is NOT for you, but sign up once your bub is born and you'll be back in shape in no time.
top ↑Pranayama
60 mins
Pranayama means breath or energy control. Classes introduce traditional breathing exercises to bring more oxygen to the blood and to the brain, and to direct energy in the body.
The activity of the mind will follow the patterns of the breath: when the breath is calm, controlled, deep and nurturing, the mind will slow down. It becomes easier to focus, relax and heal ourselves.
Pranayama classes provide powerful methods to manage stress, build strength in the spine, improve circulation and train the mind.
top ↑Meditation
60 mins
Meditation is 'awareness' and classes aim to train the mind to focus — relaxed and alert. Learning to quieten the ‘chatter’ that is constantly in our heads can be hard work, but brings infinite reward. You will be calmer under pressure, find it easier to be attentive to the present moment and more aware of your own physical and mental states.
Meditation classes may take many forms as there are countless techniques. They may employ guided visualizations, mantra, chanting or pranayama (breathing exercises).
top ↑Kids Yoga
60 mins
Kids Yoga is a fun, creative approach to exercise for growing bodies. Animated poses and stretching promote strength, flexibility and coordination. Kids become more aware of their bodies and how they move. Breathing and visualisation techniques teach kids how to command their body and mind to relax and develop self-control.
Kids Yoga uses games and role play to stimulate creativity and imagination and to release energy in a fun, safe environment. It promotes inner-strength, confidence, self-esteem and compassion for one's self.
Kids who have creative outlets for their energy are happier, stronger, healthier… and have happier parents too!
